SLIP SHEETS

SLIP SHEETS

What is a Slip Sheet?

A Slip Sheet is a thin sheet of heavy-duty paperboard, corrugated fiberboard or plastic used as a load support device for shipping palletized material. Slip sheets are typically placed between a pallet and the palletized material to prevent palletized products from incurring damage during storage, handling, and shipping, it is common to see slip sheets used between layers of stacked materials to prevent material shifting.

Why do I need a slip sheet?

Slip sheets protect materials against punctures and tears caused by pallet nails and deck boards. In addition, the strength of the paperboard fibers serve as a moisture-resistant barrier between the ground and your product, preventing mold and mildew. It assists in unitizing loads and squaring up pallets for shipments as well as slippage of product when layered.

  • Layered Protection- using sheets between tiers or rows increases stability and prevents slippage, especially when load is stretch wrapped.

Slip sheets are those almost invisible layers of packaging material you usually find between a pallet and a product load or even in between layers of a product load. Many companies will add a second slip sheet to the top of the load in case the pallet is double stacked. Slip sheets provide some level of abrasion protection and are used primarily to keep products clean. On certain types of product loads, they can even be used to eliminate or avoid a pallet altogether.
